Hello 6th Grade Families,

Today we read more from Wonder by R.J. Palacio. We finished the "Summer" section, which led us to a great discussion. We see that Summer has been introduced to the world of the "popular" crowd. As a class, 6B and 6A discussed the stigma attached to the word popular and how it can be something POSITIVE. I played the song "Popular" from the Broadway hit WICKED. After laughing and talking about the background of this musical we discussed the topics brought up in the song. We came to the conclusion that looks and wealth should not have anything to do with being popular. Being popular should just allow you to show the world that you are known for being a good person, a helpful person, and a kind person.
