  • Must have the class novel, Wonder by R.J. Palacio no later than Monday 9/26 because that is when we are starting our novel study. I suggest buying online because the price is lower.
  • ON WEEBLY: please add a new blog page under novels entitled Independent Novel.
    • If you are having trouble please watch this video.
  • Your first Weebly Entry is due Thursday 9/29/16 on your Independent Novel. Please refer to the rubric and multiple WEEBLY videos to help you while you write.
  • Vocabulary Unit 1 Test Friday 9/30/16

Hello 6th Grade Families,

I wanted to let you know about some alterations I'm making to our class.
  • As of right now the Newsela assignment will be done in school. We will work on the articles and the 6th graders will answer the four questions for a comprehension grade.
  • Next week's Weebly Entry #1 will be due on Thursday, rather than the normal day (Tuesday). I'm doing this so I can have the opportunity to work with the 6th graders in class to ensure that they understand what is expected from them. This entry will be done on their Independent Novel (the book that they are reading on their own). Most weeks they will have two entries: one for their independent novel and one for our class novel. If there is time in class or during technology the 6th graders will have opportunities to work on this in school. Please note it is not an in school only assignment- they will have to do work at home.
  • In terms of Sadlier vocabulary workshop-  the 6th graders will receive a workbook next week that they may use to help them study. These should not have writing in them.
  • Tests- I am trying out a system that will allow me to separate the grammar test from the vocabulary and spelling. I will try this out where the weeks alternate, so the 6th graders don't feel as overwhelmed and can properly study the material. For example: Next Friday will be the Unit 1 vocabulary and spelling test. The following Friday will be their first grammar test and onward and so forth.
  • I hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!!!!
